COVID-19

We are delighted that we are able to meet in person once again. In doing this, the safety and wellbeing of our members and volunteers remains our absolute priority. During the winter months we are unable to ventilate meeting spaces as much due to the weather and dark nights and so we continue to follow Covid-19 safety advice and procedures.  We therefore kindly ask that all those people attending our ensembles (whether participants, parents, guardians or carers) wear a face covering inside the building. For those taking part in our ensembles we ask that, as far as possible, face coverings are left on during the rehearsal (save for those who play a woodwind or brass instrument).

Singing on Your Doorstep

We have all been missing live music during lockdown and are delighted that we can deliver a personal performance to your doorstep or garden.

Together with Rocket Opera we can arrange for a professional singer to give a short performance outside your house for up to 10 minutes. Why not tell your neighbours too?

Please get in touch with us by e mail makemusic@communitymusicws.com or telephone 0191 488 8126. We just need your name, address and telephone number and then we can arrange a date.

There will be no charge for this as we are a registered charity (1162017). However donations via our web site are always welcome!

Theory Classes Online

Calling music theory students, CMWS Theory & Composition classes are currently available. Classes will be held every Tuesday 5-6pm on Skype, our tutor as ever is John Treherne MBE MA LTCL QTS.

Students of all ages and ability levels are welcome - not only current CMWS students but anyone wishing to extend their mastery of music theory. The class will cost £50 per term. The course is aimed at guiding students towards the grade 5 ABRSM theory exam. Note that once students have reached the required level, ABRSM theory exams can currently be taken online at home for grades 1-5.

If you are interested in studying music theory please register your interest on our website contact form www.communitymusicws.com/contact or email makemusic@communitymusicws and further details on joining the class will be sent to you. Students will need to have their own copies of ABRSM "Theory in Practice" work books, further advice on this can be provided.
